All Comments for Negril BeachesAre you serious??by Khelexa from NC If you don't want your "children" to see or be around a nude beach, you may want to think about choosing a different vacation destination. This is what they offer and if you are offended by it, don't go. It's that simple. discussingby andrea from canada that nude beach shouldn't aloud in Jamaica it really surprise me. That is so wrong Nude beaches OK but not with my teenagers... Advice please!by Cymba from WI, USA Can anyone tell me where to go in Negril that won't have nude people running around? I am taking 3 teenagers and my 2 adult sons and that's not an obstacle I want in the way of my vacation. I honestly wouldn't mind if I were going alone with "the ladies" but come on now...LOL Looking for Sammys Placeby Monika from Germany Hi - I'm looking for someone who knows negril. In 1986 - I stayed two months in sammys place on the beach. Sammy was a native jamaican married to a canadian woman, he had about 7 children from his former marriage to a jamaican woman. in the dayby taj from montreal, canada well yes!!! what to say about lovely Negril Beach ? i was living there for 15 years during the "golden" days from 1970 - 1985... Woooo 'twas amazing as there was only 1 hotel (the beachcomber) way along the beach and only fishermen and their families living on the beach with cattle ambling about freely. The sugar company from Mandeville had a place near the roundabout and there was Arthur's Bathing beach about a mile up from town and there was only a rum shop and William's bar/restaurant/store right by the jetty (that was in 1970) Rick's on the cliffs was Dr.Dew's private house; Llantrissant and the Rock House (Behmiller's place) were the only places to stay on the cliffs. there were no tourists around only a few lucky "hippies" just a handfull. i remember counting 12 white folks by Arthurs on a December day where we would congregate to sip beers and play touch football and socialize!! no one was selling ANYTHING on the beach, i remember when May, this large, feisty forward Jamaican woman arrived to sell "flourbag" clothes one day in 1973, i believe. The ganja was $5 a pound full of seeds and not very good but SO WHAT it was the beginning of Negril's discovery and everyone was friendly saying "w'happen mon?" and "Irie mon" it was so chill and non-commercial YET all changes with time, doesn't it? and now there are all these "inclusive" resorts and fences everywhere and too much of everything for my taste ... i underestand that it's for the masses now and so it goes.... i was so fortunate to have had the purrrfect time to be there in the beginning....... love you NEGRIL best of luck!!!
