OK for the money

I spent one night at Blue Harbour while on a layover. We paid $85 U.S. tax included for a triple room. The rooms were very clean and spacious but the location is not what the website says it is. This hotel is NOT on the " Hip Strip" and it's NOT across the street from Doctors Cave beach. The pool is OK but needs to be touched up as does the hotel. If you want to make the beach there is a shuttle every morning. If you want the " Hip Strip" or the town plaza put on your walking shoes!! There is one heck of a hill to climb, the good news is they're almost finished with a sidewalk so you don't have to walk in the street but the hill ain't going nowhere!!! The veiw from our balcony was obstructed by an apartment complex but you could see a little of the beach. Overall we felt safe at Blue Harbour, we just wished the website was true in it's advertising. I wouldn't have a problem staying there again but it honestly wouldn't be my first choice.
A Rip Off!

I booked a 7d stay on the internet with my credit card. I understood that I would have to pay 6.25% tax when I reached. Once at the hotel, I was charged more than $150.00 (USD) more (10% for unknown, 6.25% for tax and 15% gratuity) I was told by a worker that the hotel doesn't give them the 15% gratuity.. I paid $300 ($6.00 USD) Jamaican dollars for a Red Stripe at the hotel, my Jamaican friend came the same day and was charged $100 ($2.00 USD) Jamaican dollars. From that moment forward, I had my Jamaican friend buy for me at the hotel. I find that if you go to Jamaica on vacation, they feel that you're rich, so people will look to rip you off. I have been to Jamaica several times and this is the 1st hotel that ripped me off... VACATIONERS BEWARE!
Nice little getaway

I spent 12 glorious days at Blue Harbor Feb. 2002. A 25 room bed and breakfast, located just outside and up the hill from the HipStrip, with 2 balconies each room, some with kitchenettes, a/c ceiling fans, and a pool. There's a restaurant on the premisis for breakfast only and room service is available. Several restaurants offer free pickup and drop off from the hotel. The staff is very friendly and will help you setup tours etc. I loved sitting out on the balcony late at night looking at the stars so bright in the sky. The only drawback was a lack of phone service after 10PM. If you don't have your own cell phone you are not able to communicate with cabservice and the rest of the outside world, unless you feel li a billygoat and walk down the hill. I found it quite a challenge. I have returned to Blue Harbor for a stopover before going to Negril and I will stop there again.
