Clean, Friendly & Reasonably Priced
Reviewer: Jamaica visitor, Miami, FL
A friend recommended the Doctors Cave Beach Hotel to me. Well once again my well-traveled friend came through for me. Doctors Cave was just what I was looking for which was a clean, casual hotel at a reasonable price. I wanted to do some exploring around the island, so an all-inclusive hotel package was not for me. The hotel is very centrally located in Montego Bay, which is a great base as many attractions are relatively close, Negril is to the West and Ocho Rios to the East. There are alot of shops, restaurants and nightlife within close walking distance. The hotel has personality! I found the staff to be extremely courteous and the facilities to adequate. The pool bar is a great place to work on the tan during the day and later in the evening offered some of the best music of the trip. The rooms are bright, clean and spacious. Doctors Cave Beach Hotel certainly met my needs and I?ll return.
Doctors Cave Beach Hotel: On the Main Drag
Reviewer: Jamaica visitor
Doctors Cave Beach Hotel is a great place to stay because it's on the "main drag" of Montego Bay. Most of the hotels, shops, restaurants, etc. are on this street. The Hotel has traditional rooms and suites in the front area, and in the back has rooms with a kitchenette.
You'll find great ocean views in the front but in the back you'll have more privacy. A downside is that you have to walk across the street to get to the beach. You can't just walk out of the hotel and onto the beach, like you be able to do with the hotels that are right across the street. It's also a public beach, so all kinds of high brow and low brow people are there. This is a safe area, but out on the street, you will meet the usual locals who want to sell you something. I've stayed here about three out of the five times that I have been to Jamaica. It's reasonably priced, and close to everything. I don't recall there being an on site restaurant, but there's plenty of places to eat in the vincinity. A good one to check out is the Toby Inn. Get a local taxi driver to take you "out in the country." You will see the real Jamaica there. Stop in a shanty store out in the middle of no where, talk with the local country people, and have a Red Stripe beer (the true Jamaica beer), and soak up the lush surroundings. Then come back to Doctor's Cave Beach Hotel, relax on the balcony, and catch a view of a Jamaican sunset. What more could you want?
Nothing special

Stayed here for a week. The food was overpriced and the rooms weren't terribly clean, especially for the price. The front desk staff were a little rude, but the security guards were nice enough. Excellent location.
