Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort Rose Hall hotel description>>

Worth the Prive

I have been to the Holiday Inn Sunspree 3 times and have had a good time each time. We only had one incident that soured out trip. My husband had money stolen from our locked safe. The management was right on it and gave us 2 free nights. The hotel is in need of some repair, the balconies look rusty and the bathrooms are moldy, but you still get a nice, comfy, room. The resteraunts and grills and very good. My only complaint is the breakfast buffet. Long lines and bad food. The bars are nicely stocked and the drinks are strong. The beach is very shallow, but the water is clear and warm. The pools could use some maintence. Jamaica itself is a beautiful country with lots of natural resources. Jamaicans are for the most part nice, but we did run into a few rude people that really didn't like tourists. I would gladly go back a 4th time and stay!

Good Deal

The trip started out pretty tough, we missed our connection in Miami & the airline misplaced our luggage. Once we arrived at the Holiday Inn Sunspree at 3am we were greeted & checked in within 5 minutes (with a smile!) The room wasn't anything special but it was clean & tidy. The guest service ladies helped make the calls to locate our luggage & we had it by 2pm that day. We enjoyed eating at all of the restaurants in the hotel & had very personalized service each night (they made us feel so special!) The beach was white sand & blue water, great for sunbathing & playing with the kids. The nightly entertainment was a wide variety & was very interactive for the whole family. We had a great cab driver (Wayne) & he sealed this trip for me, taking us downtown MoBay for shopping & the beauty salon. He was reasonable & trustworthy! I can't wait to go back & see everything I missed. I would reccomend Holiday Inn Sunspree for families

Later that day I found out they were actaully less than 50% capacity, nice :( Other than that, there was one major factor that I disliked the most of anything, and that was safety. Plain and simple I did not feel safe in this resort. Many of the groundskeepers were in a bad mood and some made comments towards my girlfriend that would get you slapped or worse in a regualr US city.Once we realized that Hedo II was not for us I asked for a tour of Grand Lido Negril to see about going there for our next trip. we were told that tours were available at 10:00 and 3:00. we went at 10:00 and were told it was 10:05 so we need to come back at 3:00. we came at 3:00 and were told they were too busy to give us a tour so we would need to try again the next day at 10:00 (we would be home by then) Oh well I guess they didn't want my futurehave not have a bad word to say until hedo, I am not a complaining kind of person. I did not go to hedo to stay in a luxury hotel with 5 star food, so please don't assume I hadn't checked up about what we were getting into. The service and level and way we were treated here is unacceptable. I would not suggest this resort. I will go back to Sandals next time where I know it is safe, clean and the people who work there will be friendly to us. Aaron

nightmare if you haven't got kids

We stayed in the Holiday Inn Sunspree in August 2003, and were hugly disappointed. For a 4* hotel it is lacking in every area. The food was poor, the rooms were small and dirty - mould on the walls, couldn't move in the bathroom! and the attitude of the majority of staff was terrible and everyone expected to be tipped! Its supposed to be an all-inclusive holiday. On the first night we informed reception the tv remote control had no batteries, 14 nights later when we checked out we still had no batteries. Had to wait 5 days for extra pillers! Definately a hotel for families and no-one else - thatnk god for the adult only pool - whcih we don't think was cleaned for entire time we were there! Poor value for money and no way a 4* hotel, more likly a 2* plus at the most a 3*. We disappointed with Jamaica and very, very disappointed with Holiday Inn Sunspree - a holiday that will not be remembered for the right reasons.

Fair at Best

Just returned from the Sunspree and it was okay at best. The point is-it's a Holiday Inn, nothing more nothing less. The rooms were spartan but fairly clean. The swim up bar was in a terrible location and the water in both pools was very murky. However, if you have kids this is the place to go because they had a lot of activities for kids. The beach area is very narrow and shallow. Very hard to get a chair unless you go really early. All of the food was pretty bland, with the exception of Casa Verandah. I thought that restaurant was excellent. However, go to Marguerites in town for seafood. It is cheaper than getting lobster at the hotel and MUCH better. The hotel wants $35 per person for a lobster tail. Believe me you don't want to eat a lobster here. Ths staff was friendly, just overworked and tired. It is a fair value for the money but I think you can get a better deal at other resorts. I don't think I would return.
