I wasn't born yesterday

This was my fourth stay in Negril, so I've stayed at other places there and can do a comparison. The rooms at Legends were large and comfortable. When they clean your room they take your towels and wash them so, if you are lucky, you will get them back in five hours. Wash cloths and hand towels, forget about it! Many of the employees were not very friendly and made you feel that you were asking too much of them. The buffet was served three times a day with the same thing repeated over and over. They definitely are saving money on the food. I would not suggest the all inclusive package unless you drink alot! We went up to Samsara one evening (the sister hotel) and it was very nice. The beach at Legends is very nice and chairs are readily available. I would say that Legends is a very basic place to stay.
The Low Down on Legends

Jamaica is paradise. No matter where you stay, the place is real. The website and travel agent made this place seem like we would be in heaven on earth. Not quite.Do not get a garden room. They are across the street from not only the Caribbean, but the bar too. Our room was across the street from the resort, down a long, slippery path and at the very end. Every time we crossed the road we would be hassled to buy something. This place thrives off of tourism and I understand, but stay on the oceanside to avoid the situation. We did the all inclusive. It was worth it for us because we like to be festive. For those that might not drink from 10-10, save your money. The food is mediocre at bestand the service, slow but with a smile.
Go to De Buss for jerk...awesome but make sure your chicken or whatever is cooked! I thought tips were included...wrong. If you want attention...tip. Be prepared to be propositioned for everything from pineapple to bracelets and beyond. Duck your head, avoid eye contact and your cool. Just say, No thanks, respect.Check out Seroy's jerk chicken stand. It's right out the front gate of Legends, across the street and to the left. Great person to meet. He really made our trip memorable.I brought toys and t-shirts to give the children. A smile goes a long way. Any old colorful clothes and shoes are most welcome by the Jamaican people. The gratitude shown from their heart in their eyes is beyond words. We met great people, had great times, learned the in's and out's, and managed to have a mighty fine time. If you stay at Legends, do not do the all inclusive unless you party like me, stay ocean side, experience native cooking and meet the people. Saturate yourself in this place, Jamaica.
