My husband and I were at Negril Gardens July through August 2003 and we had a fabulous time. The food was delicious and the drinks were even better. Everyone was so kind, helpful,and polite. We will definitely be going back.

Great beach but bad resort!

stayed at Negril Gardens with my husband in June, 03. The beach was definatley the best part.The water was turquoise blue and the sand wassoft and clean. The rooms however needed fixing up. The bathroom floor, toilet and tub was very rusted and it never looked clean. Our sheets had stains on it! The buffet was very small, with just about 4-5 choices of dishes. They always had rice and vegetables and choice of 2-3 meats. Food was not great so we were pretty disappointed. The staff was not so freindly and kept their distance. I won't recommend going back it your use to big fancy extravigant resorts. The pool is not even woth talking about, its accross the street behind gods back and was not properly taken care of. If it wasn't for the beach the trip would have been a flop!

We went for our Honeymoon July 15-20, 2003. Everything was very clean and nice. The food was really great. There was something new on the buffet every day. We had a beachside room that was very clean and basic...the rooms were not luxurious but who cares. We did not come to enjoy the room but to stay on the beach and enjoy all of Negril! We were looking for peace and quiet, good food, and a nice beach...we left very satisfied. We enjoyed all of the water sports and the pool. This spot is perfect for honeymooners and anyone else who just want to relax, lie out on the beach, and enjoy one another. But if you're looking for a whole bunch of excitement...parties, people, you may want to try a larger, more populated resort. Understand the people are not as well off, so they do what they can. There were some bothersome natives who wanted to braid your hair, offer you water sports and tours. If you walk outside of the resort be prepared to be solicited. If you're not interested, a sharp "no thank you" should do it! Very beautiful island! Laid back atmosphere, relaxing, no rush, and no problem. Overall this was a wise choice! Yeah Mon!

Nice Getaway!

I went to Negril Gardens with my wife for 1 week. This was our 1st trip to Jamaica. Service in general is slow. This has more to do with the culture so be prepared for this.Our room was functional. Clean and basic in appearance. A/C, cable TV(not great reception) etc. You may wish to instruct your maid as to what time you would like your room cleaned, as it can take them until 4pm. The Garden side of the resort(where we stayed) is on the opposite side of the beach and food. The pool is on this side. Crossing the road is a bit of a pain, but we prefered it as it is more quiet on this side. There is no pool bar, but the life guard will go to the bar for you. This was fine with us. Beach and water are very clean. The food was fantastic! Plenty of variety, and lot's to eat. Waiters/waitresses slow, but this is normal. You get used to it. In general the staff was friendly. Tip the bartender on your 1st day and you will get served ahead of everyone. Very safe as long as you stick to the resort. There are many locals who will approach you if you leave the resort. They are generally friendly... Plenty of activities off the resort, but bring lots of money for them. Rick's cafe is a must see. Small size of the resort allows you to socialize with other vacationers. We met many excellent people from around the world. Before you make a judgement on this resort, give yourself 48 hrs Overall a nice time! Great for couples looking for a quiet inexpensive holiday. I would go back.
