Samsara Cliffs Hotel hotel description>>

Not the best deal in town
Reviewer: Jamaica visitor, Los Angeles, CA

Beware of the false advertising that surrounds this hotel. The pictures of the property that are so prominent on serveral websites are a bit misleading. The sun deck overlooking the cliffs is beautiful as advertised and thes taff is also very friendly, but that's where my compliments end.

My major complaints are as follows:

1. No one to assist you with luggage to your room. A maid shows you the way and that's it. There are many steps to climb also.

2. The rooms are primitive and are in need of repair. The shower needed re-grouting. The ceiling fan looked like it would come down at any minute. The air conditioner looked to be about 30 years old.

3. Our room was classified as Superior. It was a beach front room, but it felt very low rate.

4. The hotel is not suited for the American traveler.

Special treatment and attention was given to it's mostly European guests.

Just a warning for the traveler looking for a budget hotel. There are many hotels on the beach that offer more amenities for a slighly higher price, but it will be worth your while to spend the extra cash.

Loved the peace and quiet!

Location! Location! Location! If you're looking for peace and tranquility, this is definitely the resort for you! The view from the cliffs is breath-taking (especially at sunset) and anytime you sit near the cliffs, you are calmed by the crashing of the ocean on the rocks. There is easy access with ladders and steps right there to swim, snorkel or dive. The scuba shop on site was fantastic (extremely inexpensive diving!) and friendly. The rooms are nothing fancy, but are kept very clean. The staff was extremely friendly and the food good. Next time, I would probably not go all-inclusive, as we were told about the many good restaurants in the area, but felt we had already spent the money for our meals at the hotel, so didn't want to pay for others outside the resort.

The other minor bad things about all-inclusive is that your meals are on a schedule, so if you aren't hungry at the time... Also, it includes bar-pour drinks and their standard beer (Real Rock) only, so no margaritas or Coronas. But if you aren't a big drinker and don't mind eating on a schedule, the all-inclusive is a great deal. The bar closes at 10 p.m., which is nice because you don't have to worry about loud music or people until all hours of the night. We had heard mixed reviews before leaving on our trip, but were more than pleasantly surprised with our experience. Helpful hint, if you're planning on snorkeling, bring your own equipment, rent it from the dive shop, or buy some at Times Square...the resort's is outdated. All-in-all, I would highly recommend it and cannot wait to return. For all the resorts we saw in Jamaica, I would say this had the best location away from the crowd and the best value for your money.

OK For What It's Worth

The Samasara Cliffs Hotel wasn't bad considering the amount we spent. The Scenary was beautiful. The hotel sits on top of cliff by the water. It's not a beach area but you can still swim in the ocean, snorkel, or what ever. The room wasn't the best. We did manage to chose the a/c room which was a plus. Our room also had two beds in it. I only have two real complaints about the hotel and the first one is the food. It wasn't total bad but it was bad, and my second complaint is the fact that they turn off your phone one day prior to your check out. And therefore you can't call out unless you use the front desk phone. I found that to be a little inconvient considering the front desk closes at 10pm. I wouldn't advise anyone to purchase the all inclusive package. It's a waste of money. There is several good resturants in the area. I recomend Sweet Spice and Cosmos on the beach. cabs are available to take you were you need to go. We never took the shuttle to Legends Hotel so I can't comment on that. For the most part I will say that this was an ok hotel. I highly recommend it for couples who just want to get away and have some relaxation and peace and quite

If privacy is what you're looking for, Samsara's it

My fiancee and I recently travelled to Negril and stayed at the Samsara Hotel. It was right after spring break and we were very impressed with how clean and tidy the property was; however, there was about 20 people there. It made it very private; however, no entertainment was provided..unlike their advertisement on the web site. The bathrooms could've been improved (due to the moldy and missing tiles). The bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive. The shuttle service was prompt at 10 and 4. However, the property is not located in the best place for an evening stroll. I'd only return if they offered continuous shuttle service to the beach strip. Oh, and the complimentary snorkle equipment was a nice touch.
