Just back from a week at SS. It was our 2nd visit there and we already hope to get back soon. It is heaven for sure. We had a warm welcome "home" when we arrived from ALL of the staff. Once again we had a gorgeous 2 room suite overlooking the beach (c block). The room was nice, clean and fresh. The whirlpool tub was very nice as well. The grounds are still as gorgeous as ever and the staff from management to housekeeper are all happy and just plain nice people. We loved sunset beach pool, the spa treatments were great and we did some diving and snorkeling. Most of all we relaxed, use alot of room service and just rested. San Souci is not the same as last year, it is definitly better. Nothing was lacking from the wonderful food to the flowers on our bed at turn-down. You will be totally spoiled at this resort!
April, 2003San Souci was highly recommended, but we were very dissapointed. The lobby staff were very rude, we arrived at 1:00 p.m., we were told to go the beach restaurant because they were preparing the room. Well 3 hours later we came back, and the room was not ready yet. I demanded an explanation and finally we were taken to the room. The room looked very old, The walls. were all patched and painted over, the bathroom didn't have an outlet for an electric shaver etc, the hairdryer was sitting on top of the toilet. The faucets were green as the chrome was not longer on it. The sink looked very old. Overall the bathroom looked horrible.More interesting, we went to have dinner, only to find when we came back that the roof leaked and the living room was flooded. The rain also came through the window, so everything was a total mess. We complained to the night manager. I feel sorry for this guy, I was so angry that I yelled at him like there was no tomorrow. He promised to give a better room the next day.We went the reception the next morning, they told us we were going to block H, we previously were on Block G. Well there were problems with this room to. The bathtub didn't drain, the bathroom looked the same. this gets better, the couches had mould, we have to put the towels over the, the patio furniture also had mould. When it rained again the water came through the balcony. I headed back to the reception and decided to speak to someone higher than the rude receptionst. Miss Love the assitant to the manager, she apologized and promised to move us AGAIN to a better room. We waited 2 days, called the World of Vacation to find out that according to this person, we were mistaking, she said only good things, comments from customers were said about this resort. I yelled at her and she also promised to speak to management. In addition to all this headaches, I previously went to get a massage, the lady at the spa told me that it was not part of our package. I also mentioned this to World of Vacations. She told us the extras (massage and other things were cancelled). Finally after waiting for so long, I went to see the manager, told him the story and we were moved AGAIN to block D. The room was much better, not superior, the courtains for the jacuzzi tub were too short, and looked cheap. The only thing I recommend is the Casanova restaurant. Also the rest of the staff in the resort were friendly. It could be a beautiful place but it looks very old. I was told the new management was taken over, so maybe they will renovate.
Well, we stayed here three nights after staying at the Jamaica Inn done the road. The beach is a joke (like mud, not sand) and there are a lot of bugs, which is the exact opposite of the Jamaica Inn which is a mile away (still cannot explain it). The property is very nice and service is pretty good. The only problem with the latter is that there are almost too much staff- each with a job, and unwilling to help the others. Thus, if your job is waiter, than they will not pick up trash as that is someone else's job. So, small bits of trash are everywhere and everything seems a bit disjointed. One guy to serve water, another to pick up plates, another to take your order, another to serve you drinks, etc. It was a bit much and really took away from the "we are here to service you" feel of a truly great resort.Food was great at the restaurants (dinner), but pretty weak for room service. The best we had was the Tuesday night beach bbq. Quite frankly, the food is the only reason I'd go back, and it wasn't good enough to have me return.TONS of stairs everywhere. If you don't like doing stairs, don't go. Our room was alright, just a bit musty from old air conditioning and the furnishings were a bit dated and unattractive. All in all, I don't plan on returning any time soon. It is under new ownership/management so perhaps they are ironing out the details. Like I said, the property itself is very nice. Need to revamp the beach and get some pride of being employed there to make it work. Please email me with questions. |
