Jamaica > Montego Bay > Hotels > Most Expensive HotelsExpensive | Moderate | Inexpensive | All InclusiveHalf Moon Golf, Tennis & Beach ClubOne of the Most Expensive Jamaica Hotels & Resorts. Opening onto 400 acres, including a '/2-mile (.8m) of white sand beach, this is one of the grand hotels of the Caribbean without the snobbism of its competitors Round Hill and Tryall. About 8 miles (13km) east of Mo Bay's city center and 6 miles (10km) from its international airport, Half Moon is a classic: one of the 300 best hotels in the world, according to Conde Nast Traveler, a true luxury hideaway with taste and style. There are far more activities, excitement, amenities, and restaurants here than at either Round Hill or Tryall - and this beach is better, too. Accommodations include conventional hotel rooms, suites, and a collection of superbly accessorized private villas (most of these come with private pools and full-time assigned staff). Each unit is comfortably furnished in a British colonial/Caribbean motif, with a private balcony or patio, plus a state-of-the-art bathroom with a tub and shower combo. Queen Anne-inspired furniture is set off by vibrant Jamaican paintings, and many units contain mahogany four-poster beds. Of all the deluxe hotels in Montego Bay, this one is the best for families, as it maintains the busiest, best children's activities center (for children 3-10); features include a kiddie pool, a duck pond, and thatched-roof playhouses. As if all this weren't enough, the Sugar Mill restaurant, our favorite restaurant in Montego Bay, is set beside a working water wheel from a bygone sugar estate. The Seagrape Terrace (named after the 80-year-old sea grape trees on the property) offers delightful alfresco meals. II Giardino, set within a convincing replica of a Renaissance palazzo, serves savory Italian cuisine. The resort also offers a pan-Asian restaurant, a steakhouse, and an English pub.
