Here's an unusual blend of fine dining and Jamaican colonial history. You begin with a drink at a bar set on what used to be the threshing floor of an antique sugar mill; place your order, and you'll be ushered through a 15-minute tour of the Great House. Afterward, you return to enjoy dishes that are usually served either within a "Dutchie" (a shallow cast iron pot with a tightly fitting cover) or on a carved wooden platter covered with a breadfruit leaf. Good menu items include filet of beef with a plantain/port wine sauce and sweet potato pudding; filet offish with three kinds of citrus butter (grapefruit, orange, and lime); a jerk combination platter; and curried goat.
