Jamaica > Negril > Accommodation > ExpensiveModerate | InexpensiveNegril Cabins ResortThis 10-acre complex is a bargain for travelers who want to get away from it all; it's an especially good choice for families with kids. The wooden cabins (which have been featured in Architectural Digest) sit in a forest, across the road from the beach called Bloody Bay. Acres of gardens are planted with royal palms, bull thatch, and a rare variety of mango trees. The small timber cottages, none more than two stories high, rest on stilts. Each accommodation offers two spacious and comfortable bedrooms, plus a balcony and shower-only bathroom. Many units have been recently upgraded and improved, and all are brightened with vibrant Jamaican fabrics. The best are rented as "executive suites," with sunken living and dining areas, plus pullout queen-size sofa beds, air-conditioning, and irons and ironing boards. The cabins to avoid are those nearer the dining areas. 84 units. Winter $360-$510 cabin for 2. Off-season $330-$450 cabin for 2. Rates are for 3 nights, including breakfast. Children under 12 stay free in parents' room. AE, MC, V. Amenities: Restaurant; bar; pool; tennis courts; fitness center; Jacuzzi; scuba and snorkeling arranged; bike rentals; children's programs; car-rental desk; room service (7am-10pm); babysitting; laundry service. In room: A/C, TV, hair dryer, safe. Sea Splash ResortPartly because of its small size, this beachfront resort has a friendly, personable feeling and none of the snobbishness exhibited by the staff of The Caves. Much more intimate than the mega-resorts nearby, it lies on a small but carefully landscaped sliver of beachfront land planted with tropical vegetation. Suites are spacious and stylishly decorated with wicker furniture and fresh pastel colors. All are the same size and contain the same amenities - a kitchenette, a balcony or patio, large closets, and either a king-size bed or twin beds - although the suites on the upper floor have higher ceilings and feel more spacious than the others. Living areas contain sofa beds, ideal for small families. The small bathrooms come with showers. Norman Manley Blvd. (P.O. Box 3123), Negril. 21 units. Winter $199-$254 suite for 2. Off-season $156-$180 suite for 2. Extra person $24. Full board $65 per person extra. AE, DC, MC, V. Amenities: 2 restaurants; bar; pool; small gym; Jacuzzi; room service; babysitting; laundry service. In room: A/C, TV, kitchenette, coffeemaker, hair dryer, safe.
