Noel Coward's Blue Harbour

This 1950s-aura retreat, 15 miles (24 km) east of Ocho Rios, was once owned by Coward, who entertained the rich and famous of his day here. Coward dubbed the place-his first Jamaica retreat - "Coward's Folly." Today, the compound is rented whole or in part to paying guests who appreciate its funky nostalgia. The compound can comfortably accommodate 10 to 12 guests, though up to 18 could squeeze in, if needed.

The main house is the Villa Grande, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms with shower, plus a kitchen, dining room, and terrace. Villa Rose, a guesthouse, contains two large bedrooms, and the smaller Villa Chica is a one-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage once favored by Marlene Dietrich. Meals, both Jamaican and international, are cooked by a friendly, helpful staff. Note that the entire place is sometimes rented out by a single party, shutting out other guests.
